At the heart of our Catholic faith is a deep reverence for the Sacraments and the Liturgy, through which we encounter Christ and are drawn closer to God. The Sacraments are visible signs of God’s invisible grace, instituted by Christ, to sanctify us and to help us grow in holiness. As the Catechism teaches, “The sacraments are the actions of the Holy Spirit at work in His Church. Through them, the Father gives us the Son, and the Son pours out the Holy Spirit” (CCC 1116).
Liturgy, particularly the celebration of the Mass, is the Church's highest form of worship. In the Eucharist, we receive Christ Himself: “Take and eat; this is my body… Take and drink; this is my blood” (Matthew 26:26-28). The liturgical celebrations, whether the Mass or the other Sacraments, are the source and summit of our Christian life (cf. Lumen Gentium, 11).
Through the Sacraments and Liturgy, we are strengthened on our journey of faith. Whether you are preparing to receive a sacrament or participating in the Mass, we invite you to draw near to the presence of God and be transformed by His grace.
